The Drones

Saw a most excellent show by Melbourne's The Drones last night at Union Hall. Super high energy, loud, rockin', passionate....every bit as good as I would've hoped. Really cool seeing them in a small venue, too. The only disappointing sight was that there were only about 30 people there by the time they really got fully into their set.

The Bad Seeds parallels are obvious enough - they both have the bluesy swaggering garage rock with ferocious howling by a tall, dark, mysterious singer. Marci noted the Nick Cave/Kylie Minogue-esque dynamic between the male lead singer/guitarist and the female bassist.

I'm looking forward to seeing them again at ATP NY next weekend, and convincing everyone with me to join.
